Last Sunday on November 30, 2014, Coach David Clemings. a coach for the North Pike School District, committed suicide. It was a very sad incident. In an interview with Mr. Abdul-Hadi, eighth grade social studies teacher, I learned that they were very good friends. Even though I do not know why he did it, you should always tell someone what's going on. You should also let someone know what is wrong with you. If that person does not listen, find someone that will. If you cannot find anyone you trust, you can talk to me. If you hold all that hatred and sadness inside, you may do something that you will regret. Coach Clemings will be truly missed. by Tanaya Holloway On November 30, 2014, the Soul Train was hosted by Wendy Williams. The red carpet had many fashion divas. Elle Varner was dressed in a Elena Reva dress, Jimmy Choo sandals, and a gold Bunnett clutch. Sevyn Streeter had on a Roberto Cavalli clutch. Demetria McKinney had on Maria Harper red cut out dress. Tamar Braxton wore a Roberto Cavalli Fall 2014 printed dress. Last but not least, Lil Kim had on a black lace Tom Ford outfit with feathers over the knee boots. by Andreanna Gutter Retrieved from CNN News The looting and arson that gained national attention from last week's protests have ended. However, the demonstrations continue in Missouri and across the country. The protests have even spread to London. Students across the country, especially high school and college level, have continued to walk out all week. Click here to see protesters in Jackson, MS. Over the Thanksgiving break, Ferguson-area organizers called for Black Friday shopping boycott, forcing the St. Louis Galleria Mall to shut down temporarily on the busiest shopping day of the year. St. Louis officials urged the businesses to close their gates after several hundred protesters entered the mall and disrupted shopping. Protesters chanted "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" while others lie on the floor in a "die in" for the exact amount of time Michael Brown lied on the ground dead. If supporters did shop, they were told to take their money to Black-owned businesses, some of which were listed on social media websites. The officer Wilson resigned and has been hiding out for most of the three and a half months since the shooting. He is no longer a Ferguson police officer. His life has been threatened, and he is currently under police protection. On a positive note, a picture was taken of a police officer who held a conversation with a child protesting against police brutality. The child asks for a hug, and the police gladly conceded. This picture went viral and provided hope for many protesters and viewers. |
